Years 10-11
Introduction and Overview
- Edexcel GCSE ICT
- Course is split into two units, Unit 1 is theory, with an exam at the end of Yr11, this unit is worth 40% of the final grade. The Unit is made up of 6 chapters:
- Chapter 1
- Chapter 2
- Chapter 4
- Chapter 5
- Chapter 6
- Unit 2 is a 40 hour Controlled Assessment that student undertake during lesson time in Yr11. Students are given a scenario such as a Music Festival and they have to produce a number of digital products in line with the scenario, such as: Spreadsheet Models, Databases, Podcasts, Digital Adverts, Websites and Animations.
**NEW SEPT 2016** GCSE COMPUTER SCIENCE will be introduced to replace the current GCSE offer in ICT.
How to support your child
We are sure that you already do many of these things to support your child but here is a useful reminder for you to refer to:
- Encourage wider reading
- Ask them what they have learnt today
- Help them to structure revision for tests and assessments
- Make good use of BBC Bitesize
- Ensure all work missed is copied up
