Working in Partnership.
For some time now parents will have been aware of the school’s commitment to working in partnership with other providers to ensure the delivery of high quality services to the community. You may be aware of our work with Teme Leisure in coordinating joint use of our excellent Leisure Centre and also the rapidly developing links with Church Stretton Rugby Club. “Stretton Samurai”, who are this season competing in the Midland Division 5 (North West) league and playing their home games on our sports field. We are also pleased to have well developed links with many of our local primary schools who take advantage of our Primary Learning Centre, which allows Primary colleagues to access additional specialist resources. It was, in reflecting on these cross phase links that the school expressed an interest in becoming a sponsoring academy, in order to further support collaborative work in other schools and we will see, this autumn, the fruits of this labour as we support Stokesay Primary School, Craven Arms in becoming a Sponsored Academy. This will see the Primary school become part of the South Shropshire Academy Trust (a Multi Academy Trust) and will enable both schools to work closely together to improve educational outcomes in the area. Read more of this exciting development on the Academy page. Enjoy the Autumn term!
Exam Results 2014
Congratulations to our Year 11 students who achieved success in this summer’s examinations. In a set of results which were more variable than in previous years (at both national and local level), there were some highly impressive performances – 2 students achieved over 10A*s and 11 students achieved 8+ A*/As. Overall the pass rate was down compared to previous years which was disappointing but is contextualised by OFQUAL’s statement that, due to changes in entry criteria and assessment arrangements, comparison with previous years is difficult. Nationally there has been significantly more variation this year than previously. We were, however, pleased to note that overall Year 11 students had made the progress expected of them and had met their targets. The vast majority obtained places in training, employment or further education. View images.
