Welcome to Church Stretton School
With a somewhat damp August drawing to a close, our minds are on just one thing - the start of a brand new academic year. Whether you had an exotic holiday abroad, a few days away in the UK, or a relaxing time at home, we hope your summer holiday was good, and that your children are looking forward to the new term. We are certainly looking forward to seeing all of our students again, and to welcoming our new intake of Year 7s.
This may be an opportune time to remind everyone of the importance of being properly equipped for school, and especially of ensuring that all clothing and equipment is clearly named. We always do our very best to reunite students with their lost property, and this is made much easier if things are appropriately marked.
At the end of last term we said a fond farewell to Mrs Gibbs and Mrs Dadswell, both retiring after long service at the school; Mrs Lewis (Science); Mr Wills (Humanities); Mrs Leivers (Attendance); and Mr Fell and Mr Toon (Learning Support). We wish them all well. We are also welcoming some new members of staff who will be joining the team from September. They are: Mr Parr, Deputy Head; Mr Smith, Assistant Head and SENCO; Mrs Richards, Reception; and Mrs Latham, Extended Schools Officer.
In the unfortunate event of your child being ill, or needing time off school for medical appointments, please could we ask that you inform the school as early as possible on the first day of absence, and confirm the absence in writing with a short note on your child's return to school. This really helps in keeping our records up to date, and is an important safety requirement in the event of the school being evacuated for any reason. Holidays are discouraged (nationally!) during term time, but if unavoidable, please give as much notice as possible, and complete the relevant holiday request form. Due to high workloads and exam pressure, holidays are not authorised for any students in Years 10 and 11. We really appreciate your cooperation with this.
