Record breaking GCSE results at Church Stretton School

Church Stretton School is today celebrating its best ever GCSE results. More students than ever before gained 5 or more A* to C grades, 75%. Equally impressively over 70% of the students gained 5 A* to C grades, including English and Maths, this being a significant increase on last year's results. All of the students in Year 11 gained 5 grades A* to G.

There were also some tremendous individual achievements with many students gaining a wide range of A* and A grades. Four students who did particularly well were Ruth Trow, with 5 A*s and 4 As; Andrew Groves with 5 A*s and 2 As; Clarissa Lord with 4 A*s and 5 As and Francesca Riley with 4 A*s and 4 As. Particularly impressive was the progress many of the students made, the average points score for all students being particularly up.

Headteacher Steve Lunt commented, "We are delighted with this set of results which mark a further step forward in terms of the achievements of our students and are the best set of results the school has ever had. We have put a lot of work into supporting students in the GCSE years and this is now paying real dividends. Staff and students have worked tremendously hard to earn these grades and they deserve to be congratulated. Many of our students will now be taking up places at Sixth Form colleges to further their education."
